East Zone USI Conference, Oct 17 - 19, 2008
Bengal Urological Society was bestowed with the confidence of Urological Society of India to organize 2008 East Zone USI Conference in Kolkata. The committee nominated Dr. Animesh Das, Associate Professor, NRS Medical College, to convene the conference. USICON 2008 was successfully conducted from October 17 to 19, 2008 at Swabhumi Kolkata where delegates from all over India actively participated and interacted on latest development in Urology.

Urology Clinical meeting was at Apollo Gleneagles Hospital on 5th July, 2008 at
4 pm. Dr. Amit Ghose was the convener.
More
40 participants attended thre workshop. At the start of the workshop a condolence
was held for Late Dr. DP Ghosh and all prayed for the peace of the departed soul.
December
16, 2007
The
Annual Urology Day was observed on Sunday, the 16th December, 2007 at Golden Park
Hotel. Eminent Urology practitioners participated in the program. In the inaugural
function. Dr. Krishna Pradhan invited all delegates and members present.
On this eve, Dr. Sasidharan, the eminent professor was felicitated by Dr. Krishnendu
Mukherjee and Chaitali Maitra, the wards of Late Prof. Bimalendu Mukheree, the
eminent Urologist and ex-President of Bengal Urological Society. The Mukherjee
family donated Rs. 100,000 to the society for the cause of urology. Dr. Sasidharan
presented the first oration on Late Professor Bimalendu Mukherjee. Later,
he presented a lecture session on “Salvage on Renal Tuberculosis”.
After a short break for lunch, members present participated on a symposium On
Upper Tract Stones, conducted by Dr. Bibhas Kundu. There was an open house
quiz contest-cum-interactive session coordinated by Dr. Malay Bera. At the
end of the first session, Dr. Anup Kundu, the Hony. Secretary gave away the vote
of thanks. The
second session was the AGM General Meeting when Dr. Anup Kundu presented secretarial
report. Subsequently, all AGM related business was carried out.
December
15, 2007
A Hands on training for the care of equipments at Urology OT. IPGMER specially
for the paramedical staff was organized by the Urology Department headed by Prof.
(Dr.) Anup Kundu, the Head of Urology Department, IPGMER and the Hony. Secretary
of Bengal Urological Society. The workshop was held in the Ooperation Thatre of
Urology Department, SSKM Hospital. 38 para-medical OT staff were invited of whom
37 attended the day long seminar where the surgeons, manufacturers of the equipment
and technocrats interacted with the supporting OT Staff of different hospitals
and gave live demonstration. Besides, there were electronic presentation too.
